1.
I’ve always been a failure I’ve always been wrong I’va always been a failure I’ve always been wrong Living in a Dogtown This is my home
2.
Is It It 03:08
Is it it is it this what am I feeling is this real is this love what I’m feeling a sweet voice anchored in my head my heartbeat the opposite of flat can’t stop
I can’t stop thinking You can find me in the pub all night long drinking My mind is weird I only met you briefly A long time ago but I can’t stop believing I know itms just a memory a memory of you breathing
3.
what does it mean to be adult I will keep my child in mind Running in Circles I will leave you behind cause everything’s my failure Running In Circles I am a Failure I am a Failure Running In Circles
4.
all I need is a place a tiny place with some space to breath out to fall asleep with some warmth and I will keep it forever in my heart a faithful soul like a soul of a dog and I will always stay In this town In this hut I call home crying in my phone I am alone

about

At the end of 2020, Sven The Slacker decided to come up with little songs under his own name. ROSI, the band he shares with Mirco Rappsilber, had just released their third album. But due to the pandemic and lockdown restrictions they were not able to tour. With nothing but long working days ahead, finding some balance was much needed. So Sven produced some songs ranging from punk to bedroom pop or, as we can hear on Dogtown: minimal synth pop.

The four songs in Dogtown revolve around the life in a shoddy smalltown, they tell of being in love with being in love rather than with the actual person, only for the narrator to end up lost and lonely in the same old wasteland.

Musically Sven was influenced by John Foxx’s album Metamatic, by Black Marble, and New Order. He used vintage sounds as well as analogue elements like the ukulele in Dogtown (skit). Visually bands like Deichkind or the Beastie Boys were an inspiration in the way of giving in to sheer folly. The visual dog theme also alludes to Sven’s former nickname: Köter (German for mutt).
